(I had no idea that this is what it was called until researching this piece.) The beauty of this system is that they played a ton of modules around all things nerd. No, the truth is that I was a full blown cheater. In many, many Car Wars adventures, I am pretty sure I never once drove a car that fit the space and weight requirements of the game. On paper, this was a genius option except for one thing: the rules. (Because if in 1988, you didn’t want to throw ninja stars at stuff, even in your role playing adventures, you and I couldn’t be friends.) Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, complete with Oriental Adventuresrules.In some ways, this was a zenith of role playing game popularity. For me, growing up as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s, that meant that there was a wealth of options available to me. When you are 13 and you are making the jump from being nerdy to an all-in, epic nerdiness, one of the new experiences that you try is role playing games.
